Court Yard

Historically this was where the stage coaches would pull into on their way back and forth from London to the West Country.

Nowadays the Court Yard is a tranquil oasis in the city centre where people come and sit throughout the year but in particular during the warmer months a wide range of beverages are served and the court yard is famous for alfresco dining

The Hanging Creeper in the Courtyard is believed to be one of the oldest specimens of its kind in Europe; it is the true ‘Virginia Creeper’. This particular Vine is thought to date from the late 18th Century.
